Travis and Maddy met at the start of 2021, right in the middle of pandemic chaos. They connected the “new school” way through an app and are proudly one of the success stories.

It didn’t take long for them to realize they were onto something special. They fell in love quickly, moved into a cozy apartment, and happily expanded their little family with three cats: Theo, Marcel, and Smitty, who very much run the household.

Their favourite thing to do is spend time with the people they love, ideally with good food involved. When they can, they chase new adventures and even better meals. So far, they have made their way through Hawaii, Mexico, and most recently Japan, with Europe calling their names next.

By 2023, both were feeling the burnout from their careers. Maddy was working as a child, youth, and family counsellor, and Travis was nearing a decade as a concrete foreman. Instead of sticking it out, they decided to take a leap together. After some serious chats (and a few pints), they traded in their careers to open Zza’s Pizza.

Now in year three, they are still proudly running the shop as a two person team. It has not always been easy, but it has been worth it. They have built something they love and were even voted Best Pizza in the Cowichan Valley (not that they’ll brag… much).

In March 2025, Travis pulled off the ultimate proposal by renting out Maddy’s childhood ice rink. As a lifelong figure skater, it could not have been more perfect, and yes, there were definitely tears. They both agree it was the best day ever… so far.

At the end of the day, Travis and Maddy just really love doing life together, whether that means running a business, planning their next trip, or hanging out at home with their cats. They cannot wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
